Sector Tarım, which offers solutions focused on productivity, quality and sustainability in plant nutrition (fertilizers) and crop protection (agrochemicals) for agricultural production, aims to further expand its presence in global markets. Sector Tarım Chairman of the Board and CEO Fuat Kunduracı said they aim to take their domestic production strength to international markets.
Sector Tarım, one of Türkiye's leading companies offering world-class solutions in plant nutrition (fertilizers), crop protection (agrochemicals) and seed production, aims to expand its global network by maximizing its production capacity. Active for 25 years for the productivity of Turkish agriculture, Sector Tarım is preparing to reflect the strength of domestic production more widely in international markets with its strong distributor relationships and two factories focused on plant nutrition and crop protection.
We Develop Value-Added Professional Solutions
Speaking about the company's activities at a press meeting held at the Aksaray factory, which started production in early 2026, Sector Tarım Chairman of the Board and CEO Fuat Kunduracı underlined that Türkiye is one of the few countries in the world that is self-sufficient in agriculture. He said: "According to Ministry of Trade data, the agriculture sector grew by 13.3 percent in the second quarter of the year and became one of the locomotives of economic growth. At Sector Tarım, we have been shaping our product range according to region, crop type and production conditions, developing value-added professional solutions suited to farmers' different needs for 25 years."
Referring to the importance of domestic production with high technology in agriculture, one of the most strategic sectors, Kunduracı said: "During the pandemic, the whole world closely felt the need for domestic production. In this respect, we were proud to continue our production during the global lockdown and reduce our country's dependence on foreign sources. We are working to implement our strong projects to strengthen domestic production in our sector and contribute to exports, step by step."
"We Want to See Our Domestic Products in 35 Countries"
Noting that they have two high-capacity factories producing to EU and US standards, Fuat Kunduracı shared the following information about Sector Tarım's production capacity:
"We produce plant nutrition products at our Konya facility and crop protection products at our Aksaray facility. Our crop protection production facility, which operates on a 26,000 m² area within a 35,000 m² plot and has a production capacity of 45,000 tons per year, is the most modern facility in Türkiye producing to EU and US standards. Our plant nutrition facility in Konya, which operates on a 20,000 m² area and has a production capacity of 50,000 tons per year of solid and 30,000 tons per year of liquid fertilizer, is one of the most modern facilities in its sector in Türkiye, producing to international standards. By continuously updating our production technologies at these facilities, we produce and develop crop protection and nutrition products to international standards.
In the medium term, our goal is to raise our capacity to over 100,000 tons by adding shifts at these facilities and to focus on international markets. We want to be present in 35 countries, particularly in Europe, with our high-quality products. In this way, while strengthening domestic production, we will increase our country's competitiveness and raise our contribution to exports."
Sustainable Production in Modern Facilities
Drawing attention to the importance of factories' storage capabilities as well as their production capacity, Kunduracı said:
"The crop protection products in our portfolio are subject to regulations on environmental legislation, chemical safety, product labeling, storage, transportation and disposal because of the active substances and auxiliary chemicals they contain. For example, by their nature, our products must be stored at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C and under certain environmental conditions. In addition, some product groups must, for physical, chemical or safety reasons, be kept separate and isolated from one another rather than in the same area. Among crop protection products, herbicides (weed killers) and non-herbicides (organism killers) must not be stored in the same area.
In addition, customer demand for different product groups varies seasonally, which makes inventory management difficult. For example, while demand for plant nutrition products is intense between March and June, demand for crop protection products rises between January and June. Because demand for products varies seasonally, the products are perishable, and storage conditions are important for product and environmental safety, production and inventory planning must be done very well. In this respect, both of our factories are among the most modern facilities in Türkiye."
"R&D Is at the Center of Our Work"
Stating that they established the Dr. Sector Science Center in 2016 to develop innovative approaches to production processes, Fuat Kunduracı said:
"With our sustainable production approach, we protect the soil and natural resources while accurately analyzing our farmers' needs and offering innovative, productivity-focused solutions. At the Dr. Sector Science Center, our experienced teams carry out R&D for both existing and new product development, using feedback from the field. In this context, our R&D, technical development and feasibility work continues, in collaboration with Selçuk University, Necmettin Erbakan University and industry partners, on developing biological solutions, pheromone-based biotechnical control methods, and rearing beneficial insects and natural enemies of pests. I can say that significant progress has been made in these studies, particularly in developing products that leave no pesticide residue. We put R&D at the center of our work. Our expert teams of agricultural engineers work to increase productivity by supporting farmers in the field on correct diagnosis and the correct method."
"Seed Production Is Among Our Goals"
Stating that one of their biggest goals is to have an international say in the seed sector, Kunduracı said:
"We have some collaboration steps in seed production. We have also prepared growth projections on the biological control side. The importance and impact of agricultural chemicals in the world is steadily increasing. What matters is to carry out all these investments while keeping a balance with minimum sustainable borrowing. Ensuring the sustainability of food, which has become humanity's most important issue, is our field of work. In this regard, we develop our products through scientific collaborations and support farmers in the field, promoting the spread of a conscious production approach."
